Birthday Package Sent to Mercy

As I shared in a prior post, due to this year's unprecedented hold up of EP submissions by the Korean government, we are fairly sure we will miss Mercy's 5th birthday. We are so bummed about this but thankful she will be with friends she has known a long time and her loving caregivers for this last birthday in Korea.

Our agency kindly allowed us to send a birthday care package over and they agreed to RUSH it over to Korea (wish they could rush me over too!) to get it to her by her birthday. So, today I spent the day like a mad woman getting a birthday care package together...of course it was the day all 3 kids were home with me so I had to do some quick shopping runs with 3 kids hanging off the cart at a few stores to get the special things we wanted to send over.

I really really wish we didn't even have to write this post. I wish we could be writing that we have EP submission and will be with Mercy for her birthday. But maybe by the moving of government official's hearts to accept EP submissions and by God's grace we will be able to be with her on her birthday when she opens this care package...

So again how do you squeeze your love for your child in a 1 gallon care package...with a lot of arm strength and double bagging! (is that cheating?) ...hey, my girl is 5 years old...her clothes are just bigger than a 12-18 month old so if I have to cheat, I have to cheat!

The kiddos all picked out cards that had fun songs in them for Mercy. Big Sister's is the ballerina which actually twirls (pretty cool!), Big Bro's card is the Rio card...he's really into that movie lately, Little Bro loves Lollipops so he picked the Lollipop card, and I picked the Little Mermaid card...reason being that it plays the song "Part of your world..." and the last line in the card says that we are so thankful that she is part of our world. (i know cheesy, but 5 year olds and waiting mamas all love cheese!)

This little snuggly stuffed animal plays Jesus Loves You so Mercy will know that she is so loved by God!
This is a recordable photo album I had bought awhile ago but wasn't able to fit it into the prior care packages. We got it somehow stuffed into this one (with the double bagging).

These are girly items that we know Mercy will love...Princess stickers, Hello Kitty hair stuff, and little cute best friend necklaces that we wrote on there are for her and her best buddy, Cora.

We also sent a photo album with photos of her new preschool and our house and just of each of us too. The cute little Gymboree dress which is a size 5 (sob sob)...she's growing up so fast!
We hope this small care package can be a blessing to her as she is also anxiously waiting for her family to bring her home. We wish we didn't have to send it but are thankful for the chance to...and pray and pray and ask you to pray that somehow we can be there in time to see her open it.

What a beautiful package! I love how each item was picked with such care. Can't wait for Mercy to join your family!
